In Search Of The Sandwich

"Life is like a sandwich - the more you add to it, the better it becomes." ~ Author Uknown. Well if life is like the KFC Double Down...then there is a chance its going to be a short one. This week, I am taking some holidays and have decided to go looking for this strange but wonderful creation from the Colonel. Now its not available in Canada, so I am going to have to head south to find this monster. So what is the Double Down? I am so glad you asked...keep reading...a video is also included in the blog...Muhwah ha ha (Cue music for the evil laugh).
IN SEARCH OF THE SANDWICH - aka why is the Colonel trying to kill me?:
Ok two things. I love KFC! Everyone knows this, I talk about it all the time. Number two, when I holiday, my travels often are planned around restaurants. That's right, I go to Disneyland for the turkey legs and churros. I have driven to California for the sole purpose to eat at Souplantation (oh and spend time with family). I go to the Oregon coast to eat seafood at a place called Mo's Annex in Newport. I get my Crispy Creme donuts in Burlington, Washington and have been known to stop at a number of truck stops...those are my secret spots that can't be mentioned.
This time I am searching for the KFC Double Down Sandwich. The last time I went to this much trouble to seek out some food...I went looking for (and found) The Pepper Bacon Cheeseburger at Burgerville U.S.A in Portland, Oregon. For many people, the Double Down has been a bit of a mystery. So what is it? Check out the video to see what I am talking about. So whats the breakdown on this little number. Here is what I could find;
NUTRITIONAL VALUE:
540 Cal
32 g of Fat
53 g of Protein
1380 mg of Sodium
In a word....gross. But I am going to have it anyways. Its all part of the holiday experience. It reminds me of a time, when I was nearly run-down thru a KFC drive-thru in Redding, California because I was reading a sign that said 'all you can eat at KFC.' Anyways...back to the Double Down, don't try and get it in Canada. KFC Canada said no way to the Double D. So...if I do find it, I will snap some pictures...but I have a feeling it will be like looking for Ogopogo.
TOP FIVE SIGNS IT MAY BE TIME TO GO ON A DIET - boy this is timely:
1.Every morning, your scale says, "No! No! Awwwwwwww!"
2.On hot days, people use you for shade
3.You don't fit in the drive-thru... and you're NOT in your car!
4.KFC sees you coming and pops open the champagne
5.You hear the floor creak, but you're walking on cement
PICTURE OF THE DAY - would you? would you try it? YEAH YOU WOULD! (click to enlarge)
