Fun Friday is here again and this week we have a special treat as we present a new show to the blog called 'Paint The Town Greene" with David Greene. Dave hits the streets to talk to the residents of Vernon about a number of subjects. This week...he talks to Vipers fans.

Welcome to another 'Fun Friday'! Right now I am sitting at home enjoying a day off from work. Actually I was up all night working on this brand new feature that I think is going to be a lot of fun. I have teamed up with one of our KISS FM Events Crew members David Greene to bring you 'Paint The Town Greene". The premise behind the show is to talk to people in and around the North Okanagan...but more importantly have fun with them. David is an aspiring videographer who is the cameraman and editor of our online high school sports show The Bench. After writing my blog on how I got started in news...I got to thinking that it would be fun to get back to doing streeters...and who better to send out then a young guy like David to chat to the folks. One, its a great experience for him...two...it will be fun to watch. This week, David checks in with Vipers fans to find out who their favourite player is, what is the best section to sit in...and which Viper is pictured in the mural inside the Wesbild Centre. Check out the very first episode now and then check in every Friday for a brand new show. Also if you see David on the streets of Vernon stop by and say hi!
I AM A PROGNOSTICATOR PUTZ - never let me bet your money:
So one of the reasons why I never predict things or gamble...is because I am really, really bad at it. So far I have blown pretty much every call on the BCHL playoffs. I just pray and hope that I haven't done any damage by picking Vernon to beat Quesnel in 4, or did I say 5...might have been 6. Anyways, from this point on...no more predictions when it comes to the home team. The last time I made a bet on the Snakes was back in 1997-98, when I made a bet that I could wear my Vipers Jersey everyday for the entire playoff run. The head coach at the time Troy Mick...made former KISS announcer Cory Kimm and me a bet that if we were caught without our Vipers jersey's on, we would have to skate around the rink wearing nothing but a man-thong. That was one bet I won...for the good of a nation. oh and speaking of games, 2 for 7 with Tim Hortons Roll Up The Rim Contest.

#24 Steve Weinstein & Sharon Buck
At the beginning of this season, long time P.A. announcer Wayne Buck passed away. Bucky was a huge fan of the team and a proud supporter of Junior A hockey. And because of that the Vipers, KISS FM and Wayne's Wife Sharon Buck wanted to honour his memory with a special award. Wayne loved teams that played together...be it at work or at the game. He enjoyed watching players who worked hard on and off the ice. Because of those qualities and Wayne's own unselfish gift of his time to the team, Sharon Buck presented the first ever Wayne Buck Memorial award for hard work and unselfish play. This years recipient Steve Weinstein played in 60 games, never took a night off and also never took a penalty. With the award also comes a 500 dollar bursary made possible due to the generous donation from fans of the Vernon Vipers.
