Lori & Rob's Hero

We'd like to recognize Jenny Diller and Gale Woodhouse, potters extraordinaire who volunteered to teach people how to 'throw a bowl' (make a bowl) and helped organize the 1st Annual Empty Bowl Fundraiser at the Vernon Community Arts Centrein Polson Park.  The event took place on March 17 and in keeping with the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, people could purchase a bowl made by local celebrities, which included some Irish Stew, for $20.00 with the money raised going towards supporting 'arts' in our community.

Thanks Jenny and Gale and congratulations!

Thanks as well to everyone who supported the Empty Bowl Fundraiser.

Names submitted by: Christine and Lynne from the Arts Centre

Trash T.V. Treats

trashtvtnTelevision is an invention that permits you to be entertained in your living room by people you wouldn't have in your home. ~ David Frost. I don't think when David Frost made this comment, he had any idea about reality television. These are shows you don't admit to watching...guilty pleasures if you will.  But love them or hate them...you will probably watch one or two of them.  And quite honestly sometimes watching garbage t.v. is much better then the alternative that I and many others grew up with...repeats of the Beachcombers. So...here are five shows you might want to check out during your summer holidays.

Hot Weather Beauty Tips

u135335711.jpg - 7.87 KbOne of the tricks of summer is looking good when the temperature (and humidity) rises! Here are some tips for staying gorgeous in the heat, from Health magazine:

Use the right foundation. You don't have to skip foundation in the heat, just choose a light formula SPF that's  also water resistant, so it'll stay put when you sweat.

Use powder carefully. Caking it all over looks unnatural. Instead, dust powder only on your T-zone and forehead. Skip your cheeks -- they look better with a healthy shine.

Define eyes naturally. Shimmer looks overdone when sunlight reflect off it, so stick with neutral, matte eye shadows.

Soften skin. Prep for skin-baring outfits by exfoliating in the shower with a gentle scrub.
