June Rigby

This week we'd like to recognize June Rigby as 'Lori and Rob's Hero.'
For close to 50 years, June made the overseeing of the Vernon Girls Trumpet Band a full time commitment. Unfortunately in mid 2009, June made the very tough decision of disbanding. Hundreds of young women and girls have travelled the world as honourable ambassadors for Vernon, all under the watchful eye of June. You simply can't imagine the thousands of fundraising projects she has co-ordinated, all to keep the Band rolling along.
June is one of the reasons that the Vernon Winter Carnival is celebrating its 50th Anniersary. Since 1981 she has been an important part of Bandarama, Parade, Event Liaison, Office Maintenance (along with her husband Carl), keeper of VIP records, amongst many other jobs.
Congratulations June and thanks for helping make our community such a great place to live!
(June's name was submitted by Ingrid Baron)

Television is an invention that permits you to be entertained in your living room by people you wouldn't have in your home. ~ David Frost. I don't think when David Frost made this comment, he had any idea about reality television. These are shows you don't admit to watching...guilty pleasures if you will. But love them or hate them...you will probably watch one or two of them. And quite honestly sometimes watching garbage t.v. is much better then the alternative that I and many others grew up with...repeats of the Beachcombers. So...here are five shows you might want to check out during your summer holidays.
