It could be a way to end the long running dispute over use of Kin Race Track in Vernon.
The Okanagan Equestrian Society is asking the North Okanagan Regional District to fund a study looking at the feasibility of creating a new facility for horse racing and other activities such as gaming, training and boarding of horses.
NORD chairman Herman Halvorson says the board will consider the society's request.
"They've suggested that Gary Bannerman (consultant) and Ed Woolley (society president) maybe do a terms of reference that could cost seven to eight thousand dollars, so staff is going to look at that."
NORD has given the society until the end of this year to vacate the track, but usage of the century old facility has been the subject of an ongoing court battle.
Woolley says partnering on the study and a new facility with local government may be a way to resolve the issue.
