RCMP and fire were called to the scene of a pedestrian motoer vehicle accident SaturdayA young child was fortunate to escape serious injuries after being run over while playing at Silver Star Mountain.

The six year old girl from Kelowna was sliding on a Crazy Carpet into a parking lot near the Snowbird Hotel around 3:45 Saturday afternoon.

RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk told the media, "The young girl was sliding, her parents were not to far (away), and slid right into the parking lot and into the path of a vehicle that was driving by. This young child actually went under the front end and under the (front) wheels of the vehicle."

Molendyk says the driver, a member of the resort's cleaning staff,  didn't see the girl, and stopped right away.

"The (girl's) family and the driver of the vehicle were very shaken up by the whole incident."

Emergency crews attended and  determined the girl suffered only minor injuries.
