BC HydroLumby was the top local power reducing community in the most recent Earth Hour.

Village residents reduced their electricity use by 4.5 percent between 8:30 and 9:30 Saturday night, followed by Coldstream at 3.8 percent and Vernon and Lake Country both at 3.4.

Enderby residents were down 2.6 percent.

Revelstoke led the 91 communities that took part with a 12 percent reduction, while BC as a whole cut its power use over the one hour by 1.67 percent, just slightly above last year's 1.8 percent.

That's the equivalent of turning off about 9 million 12.5 watt L-E-D light bulbs.

Local Earth Hour results:

Lumby   4.5% reduction
Coldstream  3.8%
Kamloops  3.6%
Vernon   3.4%
Lake Country 3.4%
Enderby 2.6%
Sicamous 2.5%
West Kelowna 2.4%
Salmon Arm  2.3%
