Did you watch the Harvest Moon? It’s the full moon closest to the autumnal eqinox, and usually happens in September. The October moon is also know as the Full Hunter’s Moon, The Travel Moon and the Dying Moon. The term Harvest Moon came about because it’s brightness helped farmers by giving them extra light as worked in the night!.
I had a chance to capture this photo at 4:16 AM this morning. Why was I up so early, well there was a cat fight in our yard. And yes they were actual cats. I thought perhaps our cat Blackie was involved by he was chilling on the step. I couldn’t help but notice how bright the moon was.
This week for MEL’S DINER, I’ve been asking KISS FM TEXTERS to share their favourite October photos.
Kiss FM TEXTER Diane Wong shared “Sunrise off my back deck a couple of days ago. (Lumby)”
KISS FM TEXTER Richard Gibbons sent in the following photo and says “A beautiful panoramic sunrise photo taken from Rock Crescent, up Turtle Mountain. A must see in person I must add!”
This photo of Coldstream area was shared by KISS FM TEXTER Franz
Another Kiss FM Staffer got in on the act today and shared these photos she took up Silver Star Mountain way yesterday!
If you have a HARVEST MOON photo you’d like to share or other photos of your favourite OCTOBER SCENES, TALK or TEXT the info to 250-545-7557, email firstname.lastname@example.org, Facebook, use the new KISS FM APP, Instagram or use Twitter.
The following are photos I’ve shot so far this fall that I think have a Thanksgiving time feel to them. By the way thanks, to all those who responded on FACEBOOK to this photo I posted yesterday asking what these are?
We came to the conclusion by the response that they are Blue Hubbard Squash! Thanks to Roger Stephen and several others who filled us in!
KISS FM TEXTER Sylvie Mullaly shared this photo to get us in the spirit of Thanksgiving, although I’m not sure if it’s her photo??? But it’s the thought that counts right?
When you think October, what are the first things that come to mind? Maybe pumpkins, leaves changing colour, apples? We hope you’ll share your photos with us!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I just have to share this classic episode from WKRP In Cincinatti for your Thanksgiving weekend chuckle! CLICK BELOW!
