Do you ever make a recipe and it doesn’t quite turn out the way you wanted it to, but it tastes fantastic anyway? This weekend our family got busy making cookies for my daughter’s school fall fundraiser. The recipe started out for “Date Nut Logs”. They ended up as my girls put it “Date Nut Blobs”, but they tasted terrific!
So here’s the recipe for:
DATE NUT LOGS aka DATE NUT BLOBS!
1 cup brown suger
1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening or butter
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup cut up dates
1 cup chopped nuts
1 tsp vanilla
Combine. On floured board roll spoonfuls of dough into a log shap about 2 incles long and 1 inch high. Place on greased baking sheet or on parchment paper on backing sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes at 350. While still warm dip tops of cookies in white sugar & cool on a wire grate. Makes 4 dozen.
