It’s Monday morning and that means it’s time for Jen’s Favourite Things, but every now and then I struggle to find just one favourite thing SO today I will give you a few of my favourite thing’s about fall. And I know it’s been “fall” for over a week now but it’s officially October and it was so cold this morning I needed to use defrost in my car, so it’s about time to embrace the season!
My first favourite thing for fall is a good book, I am a t.v. lover and sometimes I get too caught up in what’s on the tube that I forget about feeding my brain with actual knowledge. Usually I enjoy fiction, but recently I’ve gotten into ‘self help’ books and this is a good place to start. Jen Sincero’s You are a Badass is an easy intro to self help, and also isn’t super preachy. Well worth a shot if you want to shake up your life a little bit! Plus, fall is the perfect time to curl up with a good book.
What time did the sun set yesterday? 7:30? Yeah, it’s getting harder and harder to get that sunlight we all crave. Yes, you can eat more fish and load up on orange juice, but sometimes it’s easier just to take a supplement. From Reader’s Digest “The National Institutes of Health recommend a daily consumption of 600 international units of vitamin D every day from ages 1 to 70, and 800 IU from age 71 on.”
Is there a theme in my post so far? Yes! Everything is orange…just like squash, one of my favourite fall veggies, because you can do it so many different ways. Not only does it taste wonderful, it gives your plate a little extra colour. Here is a recipe for maple cinnamon roasted squash from Life Made Sweeter.
So there you go, I hope you enjoy the cooler weather and get to see family and friends this weekend, Happy Thanksgiving!
