A fire in a Lake Country neighborhood is being treated as suspicious.
It broke out Wednesday night around 9pm in a gully within the Lakes subdivision, and fire crews brought it under control.
Lake Country Fire Chief Steve Windsor said an area of about 35 by 10 metres of grass was scorched.
Windsor says the fire drew a response from six trucks and a crew from the BC Wildfire Service.
RCMP say an investigation indicates it was likely human caused, but the exact cause has not been determined.
“Investigators are looking at information compiled from previous fire incidents in order to determine whether this most recent fire is associated to previous incidents in any way,” says Corporal Tania Carroll.
RCMP are asking anyone with information on any suspicious activity, or other details in the area to contact the Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
