Organizers of the Shambala Music Festival at Salmo River Ranch are keeping an eye on a wildfire burning at McCormick Creek, 20 kilometres southeast of Salmo.
The Central Kootenay Regional District has told them to be prepared in case an evacuation alert or order is issued.
Festival goers are being advised to maintain a designated driver and a means of quick evacuation
Last night, the Regional District issued an alert for 23 properties in the vicinity of the fire.
The BC Wildfire Service says it was at 75 hectares last night and was not contained while burning in steep terrain.
Twenty firefighters with one piece of heavy equipment were backed by four helicopters and 4 water tankers yesterday in the fight yesterday.
