Country music legend Glen Campbell passed away on Tuesday – and his final music video is a heartwarming musical sendoff for the Rhinestone Cowboy.
‘Adios’ finds several members of Campbell’s family handing off his worn-but-beloved guitar on a cross-country trek from Nashville to California. The video’s director, Peter Zavadil, explains that Campbell’s guitar is “a symbol of the singer’s legacy…a ‘spiritual baton’, carried on by all those influenced by his music. The fact that no one will ever hold a match to Glen’s skill on the guitar is memorialized by giving his guitar a proper ‘Viking Funeral’ on the California coast.”
The music video opens in Nashville with Campbell’s daughter Ashley, who also plays banjo and sings backup vocals throughout the ‘Adios’ album. From there, the guitar is handed off to family members who have been influenced by Campbell’s enduring musical career, ending with his grandson, Jeremy Olson, on the California coastline.
It’s pretty darn touching. Check it out…
