Longform trailers were the theme of Comic Con in San Diego over the weekend. There were major announcements from a number of studios including Warner Bros., Marvel, and Netflix.
Warner Bros. confirmed a list of films including Wonder Woman 2, Flashpoint, Suicide Squad 2, and Justice League – which included a 4 minute trailer. Personally, I’m more a fan of Marvel Comics person than DC Comics – but this still looks good.
Marvel Studios got a lot of buzz from new photos of Black Panther, and the new 2.5 minute trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, that features The Hulk as comic relief once again.
Netflix got some serious attention as well, featuring a 3 minute trailer for Season 2 of Stranger Things – a show that adds Paul Reiser to the cast … Yes, that Paul Reiser. Fans really seem to appreciate the touch of adding Michael Jackson’s Thriller to the trailer – it really gives the time period and the subject matter serious context. This is by far, the most anticipated show for me this year next to Game of Thrones (HBO let out a little more detail: like Jon Snow Saying Daenerys’ name for the first time.)
