Full disclosure: This is a real bird, and real footage, but there is a technology trick involving things that all sound a bit technical. But the results are impressive.
The security camera is mounted atop a garage – the camera owner posted on Reddit, and explained what he did with the footage: “The original capture was an MP4 @ 20fps. I have converted it into a GIF, and the speed was way too fast to see what was happening. So I then slowed the GIF down to around 75% of the original speed.”
In lay terms: when the camera was taking snapping pictures, the bird was always in the same wing position, so it looks like the bird is hovering.
Some solid responses to this:
- “There is a glitch in The Matrix”
- “In my day, Birds had to flap. So lazy.”
