Sometimes in the middle of all the summer weather related stories we’re reminded of the little things that matter, like fresh air and clean water, the simple things!
This is Simplicity Day, Different Colored Eyes Day, Pecan Pie Day, Paper Bag Day, Etch A Sketch Day and Eat Your Jell-O Day! But let’s go back to Simplicity Day!
Sometimes in the midst of a hot busy summer we forget to enjoy and take care of the simple things. You know like feeding the birds, or your scorched plants, throwing out blown out flip-flops. or taking photos of the things that make us smile.
Kiss FM Texter Darlene Bonsan shared these photos with us yesterday. If you have photos of the “Simple Things’ to share, we hope you’ll pass them on.
Meantime I’m in search of a new pair of flip-flops. I broke yet another flip-flop at the beach over the weekend. I know I’m not the only one with a broken flip-flop out there. Can you join me in sharing your blown-out flip flop, or maybe you have an awesome pair of flip-flops to share? TALK or TEXT the info to 250-545-7557, Facebook, email firstname.lastname@example.org, use the new KISS FM APP, Intstagram or Twitter.
We’re also interested in what your favourite thing is to do in the summer? Let us know.
According to an on-line pole of over 2,000 people, their favourite things to do in the summertime include:
15% going somewhere tropical
11% going to music festivals
5% playing summer sports
One of the things I’m enjoying this summer is taking photos of what the Vernon area is looking like.
These are photos from last night and today of Downtown Vernon flower pots, St. James Church with the haze in the background, last night’s smoky sunset and this morning’s sunrise.
I hope some of these photos inspire you to enjoy the “simple things”. I know I often have to remember to “Keep it simple stupid”.
