“I was keeping an eye on it.”
The words heard round the world from Theunis Wessels, the Three Hills, Alberta man who became Internet famous after his wife posted a photo of him mowing the lawn during a tornado in early June.
The photo went viral and the phrase “I was keeping an eye it” has become an oft referred to joke of the summer.
The story goes: The Three Hills Historical Society asked Wessels if he would be part of the town’s Summer Celebration Parade. Wessels and Co, came up with a pretty simple concept. Wear the outfit from the photo, hold on to the lawnmower from the photo, put a decorative tornado on the back of the float. Now, he’s going viral all over again, with “Home of Lawnmower Man” banner along the side, followed by “I’m keeping an eye it” banner across the back.
