Plumes of smoke over the north end of Swan Lake last evening turned out to be a truck fire.
A man was driving his pick up truck northbound on Highway 97 when it caught fire
BX-Swan Lake Fire Chief Bill Wacey says crews got there quickly.
“We had a pick up truck that started on fire on the side of the highway just north of the fruit stand and so we had to block traffic off northbound as the truck was exploding in different components of it,” Wacey told Kiss FM.
The driver said he pulled over as soon as he smelled what he thought was burning plastic.
Neither he nor his passenger were hurt.
The truck is a write off.
