A fan will go a long way this weekend, and air conditioning will go that much further. Environment Canada is calling this weekend’s forecast a “Brief Heat wave,”
By no means, does it take a scientist to figure out the hot summertime temperatures have a tendency to make people cranky. But they did a study anyway.
Results of a three-part study from Lehigh University and Northwestern University shows that when it’s uncomfortably hot, people are less likely to exhibit “pro social” behavior. Clerks working in such environments where 50% less likely to volunteer help, listen actively, or make helpful suggestions to customers. The study also found that even a slight fluctuation in temperature could affect behavior.
It means, this weekend, we should all be patient with each other, or something … Because science.
