Armstrong is smelling a bit better these days.
People have complained about a sewer smell since flooding events.
Mayor Chris Pieper says the sewage treatment plant was overwhelmed by additional storm water going into the sanitary sewer.
“We did get an excess of double the flow into our sewage treatment.“
There was no damage to the system, but it was a huge inconvenience for people with the smell.
The city hopes to revamp the the system with help from infrastructure grants from senior levels of government.
“Actually, this year we did receive one part of it to work on our primary infrastructure and we`re working on that right now. The total for the whole project is in the 5 to 10 million dollar world.“
Mayor Pieper says the ponds downtown are about 40 years old.
