A few years ago my friends and I hiked the Juan De Fuca trail, we loaded up our backpacks, dehydrated food, our rain gear of course, and attempted the 50km trail along the west coast of Vancouver Island.
I could go into detail about the perils and the perks of this 5 day hike, but what I really stands out in my memory is the four legged traveller we had with us the entire time.
My friend brought along his new puppy for the adventure, and although it was a struggle at times, it was well worth it.
Every dog lover knows that the company of a canine is a welcome relief, especially after a long day of trekking it through the rain with a 50lb pack on your back.
I’ve never owned a dog, but I will always welcome my friends to bring theirs along for a hike or a camping trip, something about a dog’s unwavering happiness makes you believe you can keep going, and be enthusiastic about it too.
So in honour of May long weekend, I’ve found an Instagram account that features dogs camping, what is it called you ask? Camping with dogs, obviously.
Before you head out on your weekend adventure, take a minute and aww at these furry camping companions.
