Remember a time when ‘Double Stuff’ was as wild as Oreo got? Man, those were the days. Lately we’re seeing everything from Mint Oreo’s to Pumpkin Spice Oreo’s on store shelves. Just before Easter, there were Peeps-flavored Oreo’s. And now, the latest creation from Oreo isn’t so much a flavour….rather an interactive experience.
The ‘Firework Oreo’ is described by Cosmopolitan Magazine as “an Oreo with Pop Rocks in the creme”. It’s not the real Pop Rocks carbonated candy that baby boomers grew up with – Pop Rocks were invented in 1956 – but red and blue sprinkles that the packaging describes as a popping candy.
Sounds like fun. Don’t know about TASTE, but fun..
Here’s the REALLY exciting news from Oreo, though; taking a page from the potato chip playbook, the cookie giant is offering a $500,000 U.S. prize for its next Oreo flavor. So if you have a really, really, REALLY cool idea for an Oreo cookie (how about a strawberry margarita Oreo??), you can submit it, and maybe – just maybe – win a half million dollars. That would buy a lot of cookies.
