Call it a disturbance in the force.
On Thursday – Star Wars Day, May the 4th – a high school in Green Bay, Wisconsin was evacuated after a student arrived for class dressed as Darth Vader.
According to a statement by a member of the police department on the Ashwaubenon School District Facebook page, the school was evacuated after a parent reported spotting something suspicious, mistaking the costume for a bulletproof vest and body armor. A call was placed to 911, but thankfully, no threat ever occured.
The district said there was “no intent of threat, but the student will be held accountable.” Um…..okay. Totally understandable if students were informed ahead of time that any resemblance to any characters from a galaxy far, far away is prohibited, buuuuut….
What do you think? SHOULD the student be “held accountable” for celebrating Star Wars Day, or are you on the side of the district, that school is no place for costumes? ~ Jason
