Let’s get this out of the way before I start, health professionals warn against the dangers of drinking and they suggest you limit your alcohol intake to 14 units of alcohol per week.
That being said, there is a new study from the Journal of Pain claiming that two pints of beer can help ease your pain better than a painkiller can.
The study found that alcohol resulted in a small increase in pain threshold.
“Findings suggest that alcohol is an effective analgesic that delivers clinically-relevant reductions in ratings of pain intensity…”
So the cure to that headache? A pint or two, but the report does go on to say that this might explain the misuse of alcohol of those with persistent pain, so let’s not overdo it.
According to EliteDaily.com the author of the study thinks that the results will help create a better painkiller than the ones currently available.
So now the question is will a pint help curb the pain of my hangover? I guess that’s where ‘hair of the dog’ came from.
