To tell the ‘tooth’….inflation is wreaking havoc on the Tooth Fairy.
A new survey by Delta Dental reveals that the average cash payout to a child over a lost tooth is now $4.66. That’s up for $3.91, when the survey was last completed in 2015. Other findings…
- The Tooth Fairy shelled out $290 million for lost teeth in 2016. That’s up 14% from 2015.
- The average cash payout for a child’s first lost tooth is $5.72. That’s up 10% from the year before.
- Tooth fairies also leave toothbrushes (38%), dental floss (21%) and toothpaste (22%).
Not a bad idea, that last one….leave dental care stuff instead of cash. ‘Cause…..WOW. Almost five bucks for a lost tooth?? Mom, Dad….do you think that’s a wee bit too expensive, or should we all just grin and bear it? Man, I used to get a quarter for a lost tooth, tops. ~ Jason
