After the news broke that NHL players will not participate in the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics, Canadians were understandably divided.
But Calgary man Kyle Kemp wants Hockey Canada to know they have options.
After what one can only assume was a few beers, Kemp wrote up a letter to Hockey Canada president Tom Renney, offering up the services of his beer league hockey team, The Canadian Citizens.
The team has 18 players, only five short of an Olympic roster…and range in age from 24 to 58.
They finished seventh in Division 9 of the Winsport Canada Hockey League this season, but they feel like they’re “ready to make the jump.”
Another selling point is the savings on a training camp, as Kemp says, their current warm up consists of drills like “winded from walking to ice” and “the broken windmill”, and my personal favourite; “who hit Pat in the head?”
