In the words of a senior media analyst at ComScore, “it could be in the Guiness World Records or something.”
What he’s talking about is the premiere of a new movie overseas this past weekend, or…..rather…..the box office returns of the aforementioned film.
They’re not good.
‘Man Down’ a war thriller with Shia LaBeouf, grossed $8.70. That’s the equivalent of a single ticket. That’s one. One single viewer. For the whole weekend.
Mind you, the film only played at one location, Reel Cinema in Burnley. It was simultaneously released digitally on demand, making the theatrical release something of an afterthought, but still…….ONE ticket?? This from a dude who once headlined studio blockbusters such as ‘Transformers’ and shared screen time with Indiana Jones??
What’s really sad, the movie has a pretty decent cast (supporting players include Gary Oldman and Kate Mara), and based on the trailer below, doesn’t really look all THAT bad. What do you think? Is one ticket sold surprising? ~ Jason
