I’ve loved coffee ever since I can remember. I used to drink it with cream and sugar. At some point I decided to drop the sugar, and eventually I left the cream behind as well. I could sit here and tell you I gave up cream and sugar because of the health benefits, but that’s a lie. It was at least a lie at the time-I was really just upset that my coffee order always came in wrong.
I started drinking my coffee black, and I loved it. I still do.
The quest then became drinking the darkest roasts, and the strongest coffees I could find. The bigger the jolt the better it was. Like a lot of people, I became addicted to caffeine. I can’t really say I don’t have a caffeine dependency now, but I have changed what I value in a good cup of coffee.
This coffee is called Black Insomnia and it holds the title for “strongest” or highest caffeine content – 702mg in a 12 oz cup.
I the last time bought chocolate covered coffee beans, I spiked and crashed, so hard and fast, I didn’t even know what hit me. Ended up with a gnarly headache and quite a bit of irritability – it was awful. I can only imagine drinking a cup of this coffee would garner similar results.
The massive caffeine spike just isn’t my cup of tea anymore.
I like this instead … it’s called bulletproof coffee. I make a variation of my own at home, and I love it. Even my wife (who despises coffee) asks me to make her a cup when I’m making one for myself.
