The City of Enderby is planning a major celebration for July 1st and Canada’s 150th birthday.
For the first time in six years, a fireworks show will accompany the festivities.
Mayor Greg McCune says it used to be an integral part of the July 1st weekend until they ran out of room but now the fire department believes they have another site for it.
“We feel confident the fire chief and his crew have had a good look at it and they are pretty confident they can do it again, so that’s exciting because at one point we were the only ones with fireworks.”
McCune says fireworks are expensive and he believes they will need a lot more money than the estimated $10,000 for a 20-minute show.
“Oh, yes, it will probably be more than that, but it’ll be good. They usually put on a pretty good show here, so I would think it would be upwards of that.”
The fire department is collecting donations meaning the size of the fireworks display will directly relate to the total amount they receive.
