Everything is wrong with this commercial. The lines are terrible, the segues reach way too far, and who has a recliner on the basketball court. Secretly, or maybe not so much, I really enjoy this commercial.
But the worst is yet to come…
Former NBA star Grant Hill is great – I am concerned about his acting skills, but that’s a different story. The “Pie Tops” are questionable. These shoes are very clearly a marketing ploy – and very well targeted to the ‘High Top Pump” craze of the early 90s nostalgia crowd.
While the run is very limited (and promotional in nature, with just 64 pair) they have actually produce these shoes which is just ridiculous.
I say “ridiculous” because I won’t get my hands on, or feet into a pair of these things to order pizza by pressing a button on my shoe – So let’s be clear “ridiculous” equals “jealousy.”
There is nothing “convenient” about this either – it’s only slightly different than tapping the button and ordering through an app on your phone. In fact, it looks like the shoes may sync to your phone, so these shoes may actually add a step to the process.
At the end of all this, maybe I just want a pizza … and my old Reeboks”
