They’re sure turning up the ‘strange’ on this one.
The trend over the past few years has been to release certain Superbowl Commercials (arguably my favourite part of the entire affair) ahead of game-day. Apparently “adding to the hype” is an area, where Superbowl promoters have been deficient in past years – so this is helping.
They roped up a fine celebrity spokesperson for “Avocados From Mexico.”
I’m not really sure who they are, or what they do – and this commercial does nothing to help – but my interest is piqued.
And after watching, I feel strangely compelled to share my guacamole recipe – it always gets great reviews, by the way.
Shawn’s Guacamole (passed down 7 generations)
3 ripe avocados
1 ripe roma tomato
3-4 green onions
3 cloves garlic
Juice of 1 lime (unless you get a ‘dry’ one, then use two)
1/2 hand full of fresh cilantro (this is a scientific measure, so ensure it’s precise)
salt – to taste
Pit and peel the avocados, coarsely chop the rest of the ingredients and toss them all in a food processor (I use the one we have in the kitchen) Add salt as you blend the ingredients.
Once mixed, taste with a spoon. Tasting with a spoon is important, though I’m sure a fork will garner similar results. The thing to remember is that tasting your guacamole on a tortilla chip will skew the results, and you will not be able to tell if the salt is just right – adjust as necessary.
Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.
Serve with your favourite tortilla chip, or other dip carrier.
